China becomes a net importer of flake graphite

May 30, 2022 - Data from China Customs shows that from
January to April 2022, China exported a total of 32,700 tons of flake graphite,
a year-on-year decrease of 8.33%; China imported a total of 45,600 tons of
flake graphite, a year-on-year increase of 160.13%. China's flake graphite imports
exceeded its exports by 12,900 tons, making China a net importer of flake
graphite.
From January to April, China exported flake graphite to
54 countries and regions, of which the exports to the United States, Japan,
South Korea, the Netherlands and Germany were all over 3,000 tons.
China mainly imported flake graphite from Mozambique and
Madagascar. From January to April, China imported a total of 27,400 tons of
flake graphite from Mozambique, a year-on-year increase of 3,301.06%; and
imported 17,200 tons of flake graphite from Madagascar, a year-on-year increase
of 6.53%. The increase in the import of flake graphite in Mozambique and
Madagascar has provided a guarantee for the supply of flake graphite in China.
